Did you know that all Albertans are covered by Alberta Health for medically necessary and urgent care visits to their optometrist? Typically you do not need a referral and depending on the nature of the emergency we can accommodate by seeing you same day or the next day.
At Bonnie Doon Eye Care, if you call in with a concern our staff members will be asking some directed questions around your situation. We will then pass on this information to the optometrist to review as soon as possible and get back to you immediately to let you know the most relevant plan of action and appointment time.

The following are examples of what is considered an emergency visit:

o Eye infections or injuries
o Foreign Body/Object Removal
o Sudden changes in vision i.e. loss of vision, distortion in vision
o New or increased floaters/flashes of light
